Album: Tinea Corporis |
All form fields are required. About album: Tinea corporis in a 10 year old boy. This is a fungal infection (dermatophyte). It has many forms, the most typical of which is the circular where the periphery is elevated and scaly with central healing, which gives it the common name "ringworm". The most common fungus causing this disease is Trychophyton. It spreads through interpersonal contact and it can spread from pets like cats and dogs. The child in the photo happens to have a cat that he plays with by scratching its head with his chin. Treated with topical antifungal medications, and in severe cases we may use oral antifungals. |
