This is a rare disease characterized by circumscribed inflammation of the conjunctivae, close to the limbus. It might be a delayed reaction to the microbial proteins. (Mycobacteria , Staphylococci, Candida Albicans etc). It may be accompanied by enlargement of the tonsils and lymph nodes of the neck. The Phlyctenules have tendency to ulcerate then heal. Steroid eye drops can help alleviate the symptoms which include pain, lacrimation and photophobia. |
