About album:
Henoch–Schönlein purpura (also known as anaphylactoid purpura or H.S.P.) is a disease that involves the skin and other organs. Most common in children.
It causes small hemorrhagic lesions (purpura) in addition to joint involvement and abdominal pain. If the kidneys are involved there may be hematuria and/or proteinuria. In about 1% of the cases, chronic kidney disease may occur.
H.S.P. is often preceded by an infection (e.g. throat infection).
The main pathologic characteristic is deposition of immune complexes containing the antibody IgA.
This disease usually resolves within several weeks with no treatment required except for symptomatic support like analgesics.
