All form fields are required. About album: A Strawberry hemangioma in a 1 month old premature female (29 weeks of gestation, 3# 8 oz). Interestingly, these lesions are 5 times more common in female than in male babies, and they occur in about 25% of low birth weight babies. Also called "strawberry nevi" these capillary hemangiomas are vascular anomalies that appear as a raised,red lumpy areas of flesh anywhere on the body (most commonly on neck and face). They grow bigger in the first 2-3 months of life, then start becoming smaller, with 90% of the lesions disappearing at about 9 years of age. |
