Happens in 3% of term and 30% of preterm infants.80% descend by 1 year of age (mostly in the first 3 months.) Treatment is surgical (orchiopexy). Some attempts have been done with hormone therapy with human chorionic gonaodotropin. This is done when the testes is in the inguinal canal and success rates varies from 5-50%. |
