About album:
Psoriasis(Plaque-type) in a 10 year old female.
This is a chronic skin disease marked by hyperproliferation of epidermal cells and inflammation that results in thickened, scaly, erythematous plaques.
Many types exist like guttate, palmar plantar, erythematous, and pustular.

It can be limited to a certain body area like scalp, finger nails etc.

This disease affects about 1-2% of the population.

8% of patients develop arthritis.
Patients with nail involvement are more prone to erosive seronegative arthritis that can be a source of considerable morbidity.
Therapy:
Topical corticosteroids remain the mainstay of treatment.
Other treatments include:

Vitamin D analog like (Calcipotriol)

Tar-based Therapy (10% liquor carbonis detergens in Aquaphor ointment.

Scalp Therapy: loosening thick scalp plaques with an oil-based treatment such as Baker P&S

Systemic Therapy: Phototherapy can be a very good choice in extensive cutaneous involvement. (Narrow band UVB 311-313 nm) is the most optimal form. Also, some meds like Methotrexate and cyclosporine can be considered in severe cases.
